Most words which appear in the Oxford Dictionary of English are allowable, with the exception of a few extremely offensive words. Also, some words given in the dictionary are not permitted: proper nouns (Eucharist), hyphenated words (re-embark), some plurals of mass nouns (mankinds), and words that occur only in combination. Finally, only British spelling is permitted - American spellings and inflections, such as color, are invalid.
Why aren't some words valid, even though I know they exist?
